The National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance) applauded Representative Claudia Tenney (R-NY) for introducing the House companion to the Medicare Home Health Payment Integrity and Protection Act of 2026, according to an Alliance press release.
The bill complements S.B. 5250, which Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced in the Senate in August. The legislation would stabilize the Medicare home health benefit by recalculating the Medicare home health payment rate for 2027, using reliable data that excludes fraudulent billing and accounts for the effects of the COVID-19 public health emergency.
"Medicare home health payment should be built on reliable data, not on numbers distorted by fraud," said Jennifer Sheets, CEO of the Alliance. "This legislation fixes the flawed math behind years of compounding cuts and gives CMS the tools to stop bad actors before they receive federal funds."
The bill also streamlines program integrity oversight so fraud is addressed early without sweeping enforcement actions that limit access for patients served by legitimate providers.
The Alliance urged members of the House to cosponsor the bicameral effort, called on Congress to move quickly to preserve access to care, and asked CMS to rescind its proposed -3% temporary adjustment, which it said currently threatens to constrain compliant providers and patient access to care.
