Deaconess Associations Incorporated (DAI) closed its acquisition of 31 home health and hospice agencies from HCA Healthcare (NYSE: HCA), including 24 home health locations and seven hospice locations across eight states.

DAI subsidiary Central Pyramid will operate all acquired home health and hospice locations and hired all approximately 1,000 HCA employees who worked at the 31 agencies. Operations are concentrated primarily in Texas and Florida, with additional locations in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado.

"This is a meaningful milestone for Central Pyramid and for the exceptional employees who make our organization what it is today," said Cherie Elledge, CEO of Central Pyramid. "Our focus will be on ensuring a smooth transition, supporting employees, preserving local connections, and continuing to deliver the compassionate, high-quality care patients and families deserve."

DAI, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a faith-based, independent, nonprofit health care enterprise with a portfolio of more than $1 billion spanning diversified health services, programs, investments, and community grant initiatives. The acquisition is part of its broader strategy to expand in home health and hospice care, including plans to grow capacity for higher-acuity patients.

The transaction reflects the broader industry trend of care shifting from traditional health care settings into the home, significantly expanding Central Pyramid's geographic footprint particularly in the high-growth Texas and Florida markets.
