Optum, UnitedHealth Group's (NYSE: UNH) services arm, reported a 10% increase in home health visits over the past year and cited the service as one of its high-performing lines during UnitedHealth's Q3 2026 earnings call.

Krista Nelson, CEO of Optum Health, identified a significant opportunity to expand home health services and other high-performing care modalities to deepen the provider's market presence.

UnitedHealth leaders said the company has expanded its ability to manage risk across a post-acute continuum in partnership with a payer, from inpatient hospital stays through skilled nursing facilities and home health.

Chief executive Patrick Conway attributed strong Q3 performance to a continued return to value-based care principles, strong clinical programs, and operational improvements.

Additional high-performing service lines cited included hospice, surgery centers, and dual-eligible and chronic-condition special needs plans, with leadership indicating expansion of post-acute risk-management programs into 2027.

Optum reported serving more than 120 million patients, with Optum Q3 revenue of $66.9 billion and Optum Health revenue of $22.9 billion, the latter down 10% year over year in part due to fewer value-based care patients in certain markets.
